And a Child Leads Them….A Hindu Mom Finds Christ

One of the things I will remember about this Easter is the former Hindu woman and her two children, ages six and four, who were received into the Church at our parish yesterday. She lives in the neighborhood of the cathedral, and since there is no Hindu place of worship in our town she would slip into the back of church to pray. Her son has high functioning autism and some behavior issues, but as soon as they entered the church, those would disappear and he would become peaceful and happy. At one point, she approached my sister who runs the RCIA program and said, “I’m not sure if I’m supposed to be Catholic, but he is.” (pointing to her son and sharing the story).  Long story short, she was received into the Faith at the Easter Vigil and her children were baptized on Easter, yesterday. It was just beautiful. She knew of no one Catholic to be her sponsor, so my sister sponsored her into the church. Let’s remember those around us who may be considering our beloved Catholic faith and let us be welcoming ambassadors for Christ. And let’s not forget how children can be the most powerful witnesses of faith.

  2. What a beautiful story. My heart is warmed and lifted just hearing it!

  3. Beautiful! My family (mom, dad, 5 kids) became Catholic when I was 12 because my parents were searching…no one invited us- we need to be more open to inviting and talking to people about our faith
